Over the past 10 months we have all
been a witness to the devastating effects of cancer on
the human body. We have stood by helplessly
and watched our brother, our husband, our Dad, our friend wither
away as the cancer consumed his body. We did all that we could
to slow the progress of this ravenous disease, but in the end it
had grown too strong for human capabilities to overcome. And so
now we have all gathered to say our final farewells to Wade,
knowing he is in a better place and that his suffering has ended
once and for all.
As we pause in this moment to say goodbye and to reflect upon
how Wade has touched each of our lives, let us celebrate! Yes,
Let us celebrate the fact that as the cancer was overtaking his
body Wade turned his soul over to Jesus. Let us celebrate the
fact that he is waiting in Heaven for the rest of us to join him
someday. I can’t think of a more joyous occasion than to know
that someone I love and care about is now resting in the arms of
Jesus. Hallelujah! Praise God!
Wade was a man who was tough as nails, and he wasn’t afraid to
stand up for what he believed in. His exterior was gruff and
gritty, but inside him beat a heart of gold. He was a dedicated
family man, and very protective of his family and others as
well. For example, I’ve seen him go out of his way to make sure
people obeyed the speed limit in school zones. He was a
dedicated worker who thoroughly enjoyed what he did. In a lot of
ways his work was his life. He seemed to do as much sometimes on
the weekend, for friends and family as he did through the week.
Yeah, he sometimes grumbled about it, but he did it anyway.
Actions speak louder than words, and Wade was a man of action,
and now as he gets adjusted to his new life in Heaven, doing
whatever it is that God has in store for him, may he find as
much joy there as he brought to us during the time that we had
to share with him.
